SINGAPORE - The cyber wellness movement in Singapore has moved down the age chain, with community service providers seeing a surge in primary schools signing up for their programmes to educate their students about the pitfalls of the Internet. In the first two months of the year, the Singapore Cybersports and Online Gaming Association (SCOGA) alone has had 30 primary schools requesting for talks or workshops on cyber wellness, compared to 50 for the whole of last year. Touch Community Services has also seen an increased demand. Last year, it gave talks on cyber bullying to 7,500 primary school students, compared to 4,500 students in 2009. Community services providers attribute the higher uptake to greater awareness of the dangers the Internet pose to young children.
