Thanks to their record-busting heroics at last year's Asian and Commonwealth Games, a cool $4.22 million was presented to the likes of swimmer Tao Li and sharpshooter Gai Bin, who put the Republic on the sporting map with their exploits. The money was given out by the Tote Board and Singapore Pools under the banner of the Multi-Million Dollar Award Programme (MAP) - a long-running incentive scheme that rewards athletes who win medals at major Games.
