S'pore vets head to Bangkok to help capture reptiles

SINGAPORE: Two vets from Singapore are expected to arrive in Bangkok on Tuesday to help Thais capture snakes and reptiles that have escaped into the flood waters. The vets from Wildlife Reserve Singapore are bringing with them essential supplies such as the required drugs, an anaesthetic machine and other equipment such as snake hooks and nets. The help comes at a time when one zoo in Bangkok, Dusit Zoo, is said to be in the pathway of floods. About 30 animals have been moved to an open zoo and some other animals have been moved to higher grounds within the zoo. Mr Pimuk Simaroj of the Thai Zoological Park Organisation said: "As the flooding continues to spread to lower elevations, we believe there will be more translocations of wildlife needed in the coming weeks".
