16% of Singapore kids face cyber dangers on mobile phones

Some 16 per cent of those aged 8 to 17 surveyed encountered negative mobile-related incidents, including receiving taunting messages and sexually-suggestive or nude images of someone on their mobile phones. The findings came from the Norton Online Family Report 2011 - which involved 200 children aged 8 to 17, and 500 parents in Singapore. Globally, more than 4,500 children and 12,700 parents in 24 countries participated in the study, released on Thursday. It was conducted by Internet security firm Symantec in February and March.
