MediaCorp's Mandarin Ch8 lands in Indonesia as 8i

Jakarta: An extension of Singapore's leading free-to-air Mandarin channel, Channel 8, has been launched in Indonesia as a 24-hour channel. Singapore media company MediaCorp announced Thursday that "8 International" (8i) available on Indovision's Channel 151 will showcase popular Chinese dramas with six hours of fresh content daily. The channel will offer both the latest Chinese dramas and well-loved classics, tapping on MediaCorp's library of more than 10,000 hours of entertainment plus an annual output of 500 hours of drama productions. "The inauguration of 8i represents a new milestone for MediaCorp. This channel penetration helps us further extend the reach of our Chinese dramas overseas and at the same time, generates a new revenue stream for the company" said Mr Chang Long Jong, Deputy Chief Executive Officer of MediaCorp.
