Singapore to invest $45m in food manufacturing to up productivity: The Government will put in $45 million over

The Government will put in $45 million over the next five years to improve productivity in the food manufacturing industry by 20 per cent. This was announced by Mr Lee Yi Shyan, Minister of State for Trade & Industry and National Development, at the opening of the Asia Pacific Food Expo 2011 on Thursday. Areas earmarked for improvement include automation and adoption of productivity improvement tools, product innovation and workforce investment. The productivity drive is spearheaded by SPRING Singapore. SPRING aims to put in place resources to aid food manufacturers, who are keen to improve their operational efficiency but lack the know-how to do so, it said in a statement on Thursday.
