IAEA, Iran resolution lacks deadline: VIENNA: World powers have overcome their differences at the UN atomic watc...

VIENNA: World powers have overcome their differences at the UN atomic watchdog and agreed on a resolution criticising Iran over its nuclear programme, although it sets Tehran no deadline, envoys said on Thursday. Instead, the International Atomic Energy Agency's board will express its concerns and call on the watchdog's head Yukiya Amano to brief the board on progress in March, a Western diplomat said. Amano said at the start of the meeting that he had written to Iran on November 2 proposing a "high-level" visit to Tehran, saying "clarifying all outstanding issues was in the interests of Iran". Western diplomats stressed that all major powers had agreed, except China, thus avoiding what would have been a potentially damaging split between permanent members of the UN Security Council.
