Announced in August this year, SIA firmed up its order by signing a purchase agreement, it announced in a statement on Friday. Delivery of the aircraft will begin in the 2013/2014 financial year. The eight airplanes will cost SIA an estimated US$2.4 billion (S$3.1 billion), based on current list prices. They will be powered by General Electric engines, and come with a three-class layout. They join a fleet of 19 planes of the same model already in service, bumping up the total number to 27.
