Last Thursday, a former commando was roped in to give self-defence advice to 100 students at a free workshop. The event, which offered the same 45-minute class four times that day, was arranged by seven first-year students as part of their Leadership and Team Building course. The idea came when they were brainstorming in December for ideas that would benefit the community.
