Compounding the higher food, metal and energy prices due to inherent cyclical and structural debilitating factors are the macro-economic policies of major stagnating western economies and imbalance of the Chinese economy. This alone is driving inflation up north. The QE2 for a start is fueling inflationary flow of hot money into Asian economies including China, particularly into properties. The week just ended saw yet again PBOC, the Chinese central bank, raised its banking reserve requirements for the second time this year – so soon! The effect of that measure is NOT just restricting the Chinese banking system’s capacity to lend money but also forced them to increase the cash ratio to existing loans needing some outstanding loan recall.
