But the Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (SPCA) has teamed up with self-storage firm Lock+Store to urge people to adopt rather than buy pets. They want shoppers to consider this: Fewer than seven out of 100 unwanted animals at shelters here go to good homes. The two organisations have launched a series of postcards, each featuring a dog, a cat or some small animal - such as a rabbit, guinea pig and hamster - that is up for adoption.
