MINDEF takes serious view of NSF conduct following a serviceman's Facebook post that criticised Islam.
SINGAPORE: Singapore's Ministry of Defence (MINDEF) said it takes a serious view of the conduct of its servicemen in public. It said this in response to media queries on reports that a full-time national serviceman (NSF) had posted on his Facebook wall a picture of text that criticises Islam. The NSF was identified as Mr Christian Eliab Ratnam. His alleged act was condemned by netizens, while his account has been deactivated. In a statement on Sunday, Director of Public Affairs of MINDEF, Colonel Desmond Tan, said police investigations are ongoing. He said MINDEF is assisting in the probe and will take appropriate actions, if necessary. This is the second such investigation this month. A former PAP Youth Wing member, Jason Neo, is also under investigation for an offensive caption on his Facebook account of Malay children in a school bus.
