S'pore firm evacuates staff, MFA issues travel alert: A SINGAPORE company is evacuating 31 foreign expatriates

Boustead Singapore is evacuating 31 foreign expatriates working in Libya. -- PHOTO: AP A SINGAPORE company is evacuating 31 foreign expatriates - mainly Singaporeans and Malaysians - who were working in Libya, in the wake of the unrest in the country's eastern cities. Boustead Singapore, which provides engineering services and develops industrial facilities, said in a statement on Monday that it has suspended operations in the country and moved staff at a township project in the Al Marj, about 100km from Benghazi, to the capital Tripoli. Six workers have already arrived safely in Singapore and Malaysia, and another three were headed for the Philippines on Monday, it added.
