Oil, gold prices surge on Libya concerns - TODAYonline

Oil prices surged to their highest in almost two and a half years in London yesterday amid concerns that violent protests spreading in Libya could disrupt crude supplies from the OPEC nation. Brent crude for April delivery on the London-based ICE futures exchange climbed as much as US$2.56 to US$105.08 a barrel, the highest since Sept 25, 2008. April Nymex crude rose US$4.04 to US$93.75 a barrel in electronic trading. Nymex floor trade was closed for the Presidents' Day holiday. Gold climbed US$14.22 to US$1,403.75 an ounce, the highest price in almost seven weeks, while silver gained 88.25 US cents to reached a 30-year high of US$33.5175 an ounce. AGENCIES
