SINGAPORE - The men's game went into the stratosphere with the emergence of Tiger Woods in the mid-90s, with sponsors and television falling over themselves to get a slice of the golf action. While the former world No 1 struggles with his golf swing right now, his arrival on the world stage all those years ago has, ironically, helped produce the current batch of exciting young stars who are striving to pick up the slack. The women's game needs similar sort of excitement right now. Haemorrhaging sponsors, the LPGA Tour has seen its schedule shrink from 34 tournaments in 2008 to 27 the following year and just 24 last year.
