SEOUL: South Korea's spy chief came under pressure Tuesday to step down following reports that his staff tried to steal commercial secrets from the hotel room of a visiting Indonesian trade delegation. The National Intelligence Service (NIS) has denied media reports that three agents entered the room on February 16 in an attempt to steal information on possible Indonesian arms purchases from South Korea. The intruders reportedly fled after a delegate abruptly entered the room and saw them copying files from a laptop computer onto a USB memory stick. On Tuesday opposition parties demanded the resignation of Won Sei-Hoon, a confidant of President Lee Myung-Bak, who became NIS director two years ago.
