More government support to electronics industry

SINGAPORE: The government will continue to support the electronics industry in its efforts to adapt to the changing global landscape. Deputy Prime Minister Teo Chee Hean said this on the sidelines of the United Workers of Electronic and Electrical Industries' (UWEEI) 30th anniversary celebrations on Saturday morning. Mr Teo said that due to new products and methods, the electronics industry has always been subject to chance. However, he added that one thing that remains steady in the industry is the support the government gives to companies and workers to upgrade their skills, methods and technology. About 7,000 union members and their families attended Family Day at Universal Studios on Saturday morning.
