Football: Stags crowned S.League champs

SINGAPORE: Tampines Rovers have been crowned this year's S.League champions after they beat Balestier Khalsa 5-0 at the Tampines Stadium on Sunday night. Playing on home ground, the Stags as they are known, had the crowd behind them from the start. They were soon on their way to victory and the league title. The win ensured the Stags finished the season on 78 points, one more than closest rivals Home United who also won 5-nil against Geylang United in their last match at Bishan Stadium on Sunday evening. This is Tampines Rovers' third title since the S.League began in 1996. Along with the trophy, they also pocketed the S$150,000 top prize.
