Why u shouldn't miss @FeistMusic at #lanewaysg 2012

There's something about the way a song can evoke an emotion. Take, for example, the lyrics to singer-songwriter Leslie Feist's tune, Let It Die: "The saddest part of a broken heart/ Isn't the ending so much as the start/ The tragedy starts from the very first spark". With music like this to nurse a heartache, who needs cigarettes and alcohol? Therein lies the amazing ability of Feist - she cuts through the noise in your head to connect on a visceral level whether it's through an inflection in her voice or with a turn of a stanza. Fine, at least for this writer. As with most women with too many emo songs in their playlist, Feist's songs are a standard soundtrack during dark periods. And Let It Die was the title track of the 2004 album which began her success story. The record sold half a million copies worldwide and nabbed her Best New Artist and Best Alternative Rock Album...
