No major tour disruptions following Christchurch quake: Singapore travel agents said most of the bookings made b...

SINGAPORE : New Zealand tourism officials have said they are advising travellers to avoid any non-essential travel to or from Christchurch over the next seven days. The tourism officials added that delays are expected at the Christchurch International Airport. Singapore travel agents said most of the bookings made by Singaporeans are for the May-June school holiday period. They said that most New Zealand tour packages, as well as free and easy tours, have not been affected. CTC Travel, for instance, has about 200 people who will be flying to various parts of New Zealand during the June school holidays. CTC said that so far, no one has cancelled or asked for refunds. The agency added that its clients are adopting a wait-and-see approach. The agency also said that since an earlier earthquake hit Christchurch six months ago, bookings have been declining steadily.
