[TOC] Severe limitations on freedom of speech and freedom of assembly: WJP report

A couple of things will happen if the Singapore government is in the least bothered by the WJP report. It will issue a press release to “robustly” rebut the findings, often with a kind of self-righteous disbelief that the West can get it so wrong about this island paradise. Our Washington envoy Chan Heng Chee will come out to whack the “ill-informed” WJP. So far nothing of the sort has taken place. This means: no issue lah. Heartlanders are not remotely interested, preferring bread and butter issues like resale prices of HDB flats or the costs of medical care at polyclinics. So how? Follow majority of Singaporeans and their likes or continue to publish esoteric discourses?
