A*STAR, IHI team up to convert fuel gas to clean energy #renewableresources

SINGAPORE - The Institute of Chemical and Engineering Sciences (ICES) and Japanese firm IHI Corporation have signed a research collaboration agreement to develop environmental and energy related technologies. ICES is a research institute under The Agency for Science, Technology and Research (A*STAR). Under this agreement, ICES and IHI will develop a catalytic process to convert the gas derived from fossil fuels and renewable resources such as biomass, into energy products such as biofuels and feedstock chemicals. The ideas and technology developed will be then tested for commercial applications. This is in response to the urgent need to maximise the use of fuels, in the face of energy security issues and rising costs of fossil fuels.
