Low-income students from South West district receive help from CDC
SINGAPORE: Amid rising costs of living, low-income students from the South West district will start the new school term with more help from the Community Development Council (CDC). About 600 of them have been given vouchers for books, school bags and shoes. Each voucher is worth S$150 - which is more than the S$100 given out last year. They are sponsored by the CapitaLand Hope Foundation through a S$90,000 donation. The assistance scheme started in 2008 and since then, about S$220,000 have been distributed to 1,800 beneficiaries.
