Community needs to respond maturely to offensive online postings: PM Lee

SINGAPORE: Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong said Singaporeans have to respond in a mature and calm way in dealing with offensive postings on the Internet. Commenting for the first time on the incidents, Mr Lee said it is not necessary to get worked up every time something like this happens. He was speaking to reporters on the sidelines of the Mosque Convention 2011 on Sunday. Several offensive postings referring to the Muslim community were made recently. Mr Lee didn't think they were a spate and said some of the comments were bad. He said: "I think we have to respond in a mature and calm sort of way. It's wrong that they did it and we acted against them but it's not necessary for us to get worked up every time something like this happens.
