More Singaporeans are taking the MRT to work compared to 10 years ago; proportion of commuters taking buses to work falls

The Census found that 31 per cent of people used the MRT to go to work, up 24 per cent from 2000. In contrast, the number of bus commuters fell to 19 per cent from 25 per cent over the same period. Also on the increase, but only slightly, is the number of people who drive to work. Up 1 per cent to 25 per cent in 2010. The highest proportion of people commuting by MRT live in Sembawang, with 49 per cent saying they took the train. This was followed by Yishun, Woodlands and Choa Chu Kang. Similarly, the proportion of those taking the bus to work was highest in Bukit Merah at 31 per cent, followed by Marine Parade and Bukit Panjang. For those who drive...
