GE: 11 new constituencies drawn up

Singapore: The recommendations of the Electoral Boundaries Review Committee which will be implemented at the next General Election, sees more than half of the 12 Single Member Constituencies drawn up being new ones. The new single wards are Hong Kah North, Mountbatten, Pioneer, Punggol East, Radin Mas, Sengkang West, Whampoa and Yuhua. Among 15 Group Representation Constituencies, the new ones are Moulmein-Kallang which will have 4-members, as well as Chua Chu Kang and Nee Soon which are 5-member GRCs. As for existing GRCs, some are now smaller, such as the Holland-Bukit Timah GRC which will now have 4-MPs, and Marine Parade and Sembawang which will have 5-MPs each. The report by the Electoral Boundaries Review Committee issued Thursday noted that there's an estimated 2,349,091 electors as of 1 January 2011.
