Use smartphone for grocery shopping at Boon Lay, Bugis MRT stations

SINGAPORE: Commuters can now shop for groceries at two SMRT train stations, using the smartphone. They can do so through a wall space that works like a virtual shop. It is available at Bugis and Boon Lay stations. For a start, it will be for purchases from Cold Storage until December 20. It's the first Quick Response (QR) code shopping wall for SMRT. All that the commuter has to do is scan a matrix of black squares into any smartphone, choose the quantity, and key in the details on the Cold Storage website ... and that Christmas turkey or ham will be delivered. Customers will need a QR code reader which is installed in most phones or can be easily downloaded. Dawn Loh, Managing Director of SMRT Investments, said: "A lot of commuters are always time-starved.
