Causeway users to be hit by 2-way tolls, rates expected to go up

By Lester Kong, Malaysia Correspondent KUALA LUMPUR - Motorists driving between Singapore and Malaysia via the Causeway will be hit by a double whammy next year: Not only will they have to pay a toll both ways instead of one, but also the rates will possibly be raised. The new toll rates will be decided by the Malaysian Cabinet. Currently, motorists using the Causeway pay a toll only when driving from Singapore into Johor Baru. Cars pay $1.20 at the Singapore end and RM2.90 (S$1.20) at the Malaysia end. Next year, however, the toll will apply to vehicles going from Johor Baru to Singapore as well.
