China executes convicted Filipino man despite clemency appeal - @AP

MANILA (AP) - The Philippine government says China has executed a Filipino man convicted on drug trafficking charges despite an appeal for clemency from President Benigno Aquino III. Vice-president Jejomar Binay said the 35-year-old man was put to death by lethal injection on Thursday in southern Guangxi province. He was arrested in 2008 at Guilin International Airport while trying to smuggle 1.5kg of heroin from Malaysia. Smuggling more than 50g of heroin or other drugs is punishable by death in China.
