British PM sorry for Libya evacuation delay

LONDON GATWICK AIRPORT: Two British rescue flights were to depart Libya on Friday and a warship full of stranded nationals left for Malta as leader David Cameron apologised for the delay in getting them home. Three British flights - a commercial charter plane, an airliner chartered by the Foreign Office, and a military Hercules transporter - on Thursday began Britain's maligned mission to rescue nationals stuck in the restive country. Two further Foreign Office (FCO) chartered planes were due to leave Tripoli early Friday, bringing the total number of British nationals flown out of the Lebanese capital to around 300. The Royal Navy's HMS Cumberland frigate also left Libya's second city of Benghazi carrying 207 passengers, 68 British, to ferry them to the Maltese capital Valletta.
