NTUC gives out S$9.13m to help 90,000 low-income members: SINGAPORE: The labour movement disbursed a total of S$...

SINGAPORE: The labour movement provided more financial help to needy members through its U Care Fund this year. It gave out S$9.13 million, higher than the S$8.3m handed out in 2010. Over 90,000 low-income union members and their families have benefited from this year's U Care's six assistance programmes. The assistance programmes are U Stretch vouchers, U Care Back To School vouchers, Family Recreation & Fun Carnivals, U Care Education Co-Funding scheme, and donations to NTUC Eldercare Trust and NTUC First Campus Bright Horizons Fund. NTUC Care and Share director, Mr Zainudin Nordin, said that U Care is committed to helping its members in the face of an economic downturn.
