Water polo on show

SINGAPORE - Participants at the TYR Singapore Water Polo Open 2011 will have added incentive, as national selectors will be looking to fill positions for November's SEA Games squad in Indonesia, as well as the national youth teams. Co-hosted by Teck Ghee Constituency Sports Club (CSC) and Singapore Swimming Association for the first time, the two-day tournament at the Co-Curricular Activities Branch at Evans Road aims to promote the sport among the local community. Said Yip Ren Kai, Teck Ghee CSC's assistant secretary: "We are trying to bring the sport of water polo to the community, that's why both organisations are teaming up." Nine teams will compete for honours in the open event, including an outfit each from Thailand and Malaysia.
