SIA, Virgin launch joint frequent flyer programme, SilkAir to fly to Darwin

A joint frequent flyer programme by Singapore Airlines (SIA) and Virgin Australia is expected to take off by Dec 20. -- PHOTO: REUTERS A joint frequent flyer programme by Singapore Airlines (SIA) and Virgin Australia is expected to take off by Dec 20. KrisFlyer members will be able to earn and redeem frequent flyer points on Virgin Australia's entire network and Velocity members will likewise be able to accumulate frequent flyer points on Singapore Airlines-operated flights. They will also be given access the airlines' respective lounges. In the same press statement released on Tuesday, SIA announced that its regional arm SilkAir would be commencing Singapore-Darwin flights. SilkAir will fly to the northern Australian city four times a week, and flights are to begin on Mar 26, 2012.
