SINGAPORE - A tech startup in the water industry is adopting a supermarket norm in offering samples for customers to try out a product before buying. Started in 2009, Membranes Instruments and Technology (MINT) is a company specialising in sensors for membrane-based water treatment plants. MINT is now working with the Public Utilities Board (PUB) to test out the sensor in Chestnut Waterworks and to conduct feasibility studies in Jurong and Kranji Waterworks. The company, valued at S$2 million, is also venturing overseas to test out its flagship product in France, the United States and Saudi Arabia - for free. It also plans to test out the sensors, which monitors the quality of water filtration membranes by displaying real-time information about how well membranes are working, in Australia.
