He stressed the importance of focusing on the people in the area - regardless of how the boundaries are drawn. He also said that that the changes 'disadvantaged' the People's Action Party (PAP) more than the opposition candidates, citing as an example the shrinkage of the Kaki Bukit area after the electoral boundaries were re-drawn. Now that one one portion has gone to the Aljunied GRC (group representation constituency) and another with the Marine Parade GRC, a new PAP branch will have to be set up in the Kaki Bukit area.
