SINGAPORE - Amid the public outcry over the train disruption on Thursday, SMRT's senior management team acknowledged that the transport operator could have done better in providing information to affected commuters. At the same time, however, they stressed that SMRT had to be sure of what was happening before it could disseminate any information. "We were quite blind to the situation in the initial minutes," SMRT CEO Saw Phaik Hwa said at the press conference yesterday. SMRT vice-president (rail operations, SMRT trains) Lui Wai Meng reiterated that the company was "uneasy" making announcements when it did not have a full picture.
