Transport Minister Lui Tuck Yew said that there are service standards and standard operating procedures in place that SMRT is required to follow. 'Whether or not they are adequate is a different matter,' he said at Newton MRT station. Mr Lui was at the station to assess the situation. He instructed SMRT staff to give affected passengers an update of how long they were expected to wait for the bridging service while they stood in line.
