SMRT says NO to cab fare compensation..

SMRT has admitted that it needs to work on its communication when train incidents happen. The senior management of SMRT told the media in a press conference yesterday that it will give drivers more training. Currently, the drivers are "as blind as the passengers on the train" when incidents occur, and can communicate only as instructed. SMRT was also asked some pointed questions by the media. On whether SMRT will compensate commuters who had to take taxis as a result of the train breakdowns, CEO Saw Phaik Hwa answered that refunds would be based on train fares incurred. She goes on to point out that "We also had free bridging bus services", referring to the shuttle services that many commuters complained were simply too packed to board and too slow to arrive.
