Why do this when victory is certain? (via ST iPhone App)

THE unveiling of changes to electoral boundaries, the composition of group representation constituencies (GRCs) and the number of single-member constituencies (SMCs) have elicited mixed reactions. While Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong believes the changes have lowered the barriers for opposition parties ('PM: Lower hurdle for opposition parties'; Saturday), others have doubts that they have succeeded in levelling the playing field. I tend to agree with the latter. The Government is quick to point out that the re-zoning of an Aljunied GRC area next to Hougang (a stronghold of the Workers' Party) into the Ang Mo Kio GRC need not be seen as a setback for the opposition. But it is hard to imagine that any political party in power, let alone the People's Action Party (PAP), would go to such lengths without securing an advantage.
