VISITORS spent a record $90 million at the Natas Travel Fair, surpassing last February's all-time high of $63 million. For the first time in the event's history, Europe emerged as the top holiday destination. Mr Robert Khoo, chief executive of the National Association of Travel Agents Singapore (Natas), said sales were 'very much better than expected'. He had expected $70 million worth of business and 68,000 visitors to the three-day fair at the Singapore Expo because of a better economy and strong Singapore dollar. While sales exceeded his expectations, the turnout fell short at about 66,000 - still higher than last February's 62,000. 'Sales increased because they were mostly big-ticket items to destinations such as Europe.
