New centre in Eunos to help at-risk youth

A PILOT project in Eunos that matches at-risk youth with mentors and agencies that can help them may be replicated nationwide if it takes off. The programme is the first to coordinate efforts across agencies and welfare groups that reach out to a specific group of young people. These are teens between the ages of 13 and 18 who have quit school or are in danger of dropping out. Once they leave school, it becomes harder to track and help them. Said Mr Zainul Abidin Rasheed, Senior Minister of State for Foreign Affairs and an MP for Aljunied GRC, who was at the official opening of the [email protected] centre on Sunday: 'We feel that there are problems of disconnects in some areas, between schools and parents, between parents and kids, and between parents, kids and youth leaders.
