IDA issues Code of Practice to ensure secure internet infrastructure

SINGAPORE: The Infocomm Development Authority of Singapore (IDA) has issued Internet Service Providers (ISP) a Code which seeks to ensure that their infrastructure is secure and resilient. ISPs will be required to implement specific controls progressively as the Code comes into effect from April 30, 2011. They should be fully compliant by 2013. The Code covers the protection of the core Internet infrastructure such as routers, switches and critical network components, and details the objectives and controls essential to prevent, detect and respond to security incidents. IDA said these requirements, which are consistent with internationally recognised standards and best practices for the industry, will put the ISPs in good stead and provide assurance to their consumers. IDA said it will conduct periodic audits to ensure that ISPs observe the Code.
