BANGKOK – Thailand's Department of Special Investigation says it has determined that a Reuters cameraman killed during political protests in Bangkok last year was not shot by security forces, a reversal from preliminary findings that raised immediate questions about the inquiry. In its long-delayed report into the April 10 death of Japanese journalist Hiro Muramoto, the DSI said Monday the bullet that killed him was fired by an AK-47 rifle, which a different weapon than those used by soldiers. Reuters News editor-in-chief Stephen J. Adler said in a statement "the apparent contradiction between the preliminary investigation and these reports makes full transparency about the process and the findings imperative."
