January 2011 Manufacturing Output Rose 10.5% On-Year: 15.4% growth posted month-on-month.

A strong export demand for semiconductor-related equipment has helped Singapore’s manufacturing output stay in positive territory in January 2011. Compared to 12 months ago, Singapore’s factories churned 10.5% more in output. Such output actually rose 18.9% if biomedical manufacturing was excluded, according to the Monthly Manufacturing Performance January 2011 data by the Singapore Economic Development Board (EDB) . Looking at the year-on-year performance by cluster, the 3 biggest contributors last month were:
