Updated story: Yellow-Top, Premier and Smart Taxis also due to adjust fares, in addition to TransCab

SINGAPORE - TransCab will raise flagdown fares from 3 January 2012. The flag-down rate will increase from 20 cents to 70 cents, depending on the taxi type. The start trip on a Toyota Crown cab will cost S$3, instead of S$2.80. For a Toyota Wish cab, the flag-down rate will increase to S$3.20, instead of S$3, while the start fare for a Chevrolet cab will be raised to $S3.40, instead of S$3.20. For Mercedes-Benz cabs, the fare will start at S$3.90, instead of S$3.20. According to the Public Transport Council (PTC), other cab operators have also sent in proposals for fare adjustments. Yellow-Top Taxi and Premier Taxi notified the PTC on Dec 16, while Smart Taxis sent in their notification on Dec 19, the same day the PTC also received notification from TransCab.
