SingTel to roll out 4G speeds for customers in selected areas, from Dec 22

SINGAPORE - SingTel customers will become the first in Singapore to experience 4G speeds, from 22 December onwards. Today, the telco launched its 4G, or long term evolution (LTE), plan for consumer and business customers. For a start, it will only be available for USB dongle modems, and coverage will only extend to areas of high data usage such as the Central Buisness District and Orchard, as well as selected shopping malls such as Ngee Ann City, Tampines Mall and IMM. By 2012, coverage areas will increase to include 80 per cent of customers. This figure will go up to 95 per cent by 2013. The plan, named Broadband on Mobile Prestige 75 LTE, will be available at S$69.90 per month. It will be a bundle of 10GB of 4G data, as well as 50GB of 3G 21 Mbps data.
