#Flood waters reach 30cm in some parts of S'pore, subsides within 1 hour: #PUB

Due to prolonged heavy rain in the afternoon, many parts of Singapore were hit by flash floods, with flood waters in some areas reaching 30 cm. The flood waters generally subsided within an hour. Said the PUB in a statement (Dec 23): "Prolonged heavy rain fell over the southern and central parts of Singapore this afternoon. From 2.20pm to 5.20pm, the total recorded rainfall was 152.8mm at Orchard Road. "Flash floods occurred at Cuscaden Road, Newton Circus, Kampong Java, Lincoln Road, Wee Nam Road, Cambridge Road, junction of Moulmein Road and Thomson Road in front of United Square, and junction of Bukit Timah junction and Sixth Avenue. Motorists were advised to avoid these areas.
