JOHN Terry performed well for Chelsea in their 1-1 draw with Tottenham yesterday morning (Singapore time). That's his job. Judging by the borderline hysterical hyperbole, however, you’d think he’d single-handedly lifted the Blues to the Promised Land. Once Chelsea had decided to pick their captain a day after the British Crown Prosecution Service charged Terry with a "racially aggravated public order offence", the searing gaze of the world's media and a cynical public was always going to be uniquely intense. And the defender handled the pressure. Terry is not guilty of any offence at this stage. But he is not Martin Luther King either. More in The New Paper today (Dec 24).
