SINGAPORE: Nearly S$500 million from the National Productivity Fund was used to fund productivity initiatives last year. Deputy Prime Minister Teo Chee Hean, who is also the chairman of the National Productivity and Continuing Education Council, said this on Tuesday. The council has so far endorsed seven of the 12 sectoral productivity blueprints. They are in electronics, precision engineering, construction, retail, food services, hotels and logistics & storage. Mr Teo said the council will now focus on innovation, leveraging on the strengths of systems and networks, raising the quality of human resource management and putting more emphasis on making the fundamental shift towards a culture of continuous improvement and learning.
