QR code technology to speed up NEA inspections - Channel News Asia

SINGAPORE: Officers from the National Environment Agency (NEA) are now using QR (quick response) code technology during inspections at hawker centres. The QR codes are part of a trial this year to use technology to improve the speed of inspections. Each QR code contains registration details about each hawker stall, which officers can access by taking a picture on their mobile device. The five-month trial beginning in end-February this year was conducted at four markets and hawker centres. They are Tiong Bahru Market and Hawker Centre, North Bridge Road Hawker Centre, Bukit Timah Market and Hawker Centre and Serangoon Gardens Market. The NEA is still evaluating whether to extend the initiative to other hawker centres. One of the hawker stall owners said: "It's better because it's simpler and faster.
